I think the 2.8 Duramax would be a more entertaining engine swap at that point

No, the 2.8 Duramax sounds like a box of rocks. 188hp and 369lb-ft of torque. That new 2.7T is a brand new engine, optimized to the max.

Damn I just had a mini heart attach I thought that the ugly 2019 Camaro will get a 2.7T. That would tear me apart, since I hate the design but I would love to have this engine on the Camaro

Its only up 35HP and 45TQ. That's like a tune, at best. No way I'd consider a swap. Still don't even get forged pistons. I believe they are doing the stupid integrated exhaust manifold crap as well on this engine. Only good I see here, is more possible internal swap parts Jason can use!!

I agree, Duramax swap. But, may as well piss everyone off and throw in the 3.0 inline-six turbo diesel. Take the 10-speed too... Haha
I suspect something like 225HP and 435TQ in stock configuration once the numbers are released. When those Duramax boys start tuning, ..who knows??

Mark Reuss says to expect the most powerful diesel in the segment with the 3.0 Duramax. Ford's at 250/440 with their 3.0 diesel, so I'm really hoping GM gets into the neighborhood of 285/475 with the 3.0 Duramax to really make a difference since nobody's really been blown away with the PowerStroke (or the old 240/420 Ram EcoDiesel) in the reviews I've seen.

Powerband delivery is everything on a diesel.

It's a long stoke engine made for TQ and a narrow powerband, would not work well in a Camaro.

FWIW GM Powertrain does not consider any engine with integrated manifolds to be a "performance" engine from a cultural and engineering standpoint. That explains how they're up so much in displacement with so little gains - this thing is set for a surge of low end grunt and then likely very little (if anything) up top. The castings are likely not great for flow and may not even be able to be extrude honed for flow.

But Jason may indeed find some parts internally or externally worth investigating!

No your right because it's a slow engine in a slow truck.

That would be AMAZING, and make Evil-Bee-NH's duramax swap even more thought provoking! I'm not overly concerned with a narrow powerband considering 10 speeds, and multiple rear gear choices
