Some things you should Know:
The Z06 is a FRC. Fixed Roof Coupe. Not a lot of storage. Less sound deadening than base C5's. You will hear a rattle, it's normal. The transmission is in the rear, you will want a short throw shifter. Your leg will get hot. I wrote a tutorial how to cool it down with a towel. The 03 has the good shocks. It is a hair faster than the 02. To get in and out of the car, look for a square bulge in the door jamb. Put your hand on it. Undocumented feature. It came with a videotape how to set up the car for roadracing. This can be found on YouTube. You can adjust the suspension with simple hand tools in 15 minutes. This includes lowering the car, which will improve mileage. It Will Get 29-30 mpg highway at 70mph with the headlights down in 6th gear. No problem. The DIC will read trouble codes. There is a Heads Up Display that is programmable. The mufflers are titanium and very good. DO NOT bother with aftermarket. It pulls hard into the limiter (6600), bumping the limiter to 7000 and shifting at 6800-6900 will net high 11 second ET's with a good driver. Not a lot of helmet clearance for tall people. Do not drive over debris like grass clippings. The radiator intake is right at ground level, and you will block the radiator and overheat. Even by today's standards, the C5 Z06 is a very competitive car in the twisties. What it lacks in HP, it makes up for with a 3100lb curb weight. Put one extra quart of oil in it for RR or AutoX. This is why the next Z06 came dry sump. On "ok" tires, it will sustain over 1.01g, with good tires, over 1.1g.

Video (race stuff is pretty far down):
Out of all the cars I've driven, the C5 Z06 would rate in the top 10 for fun factor. It takes me an hour to wipe the grin off my face.

They make adapter kits to put 58 tooth engines in 24 tooth cars. However, there is a huge aftermarket for the LSx engine of that era (LS1/LS6). You can keep your 24 tooth electronics and make big power.

Thank you for your information, after reading your post I am seriously considering a trade. Do you reccomend the C5 ZO6 as a good daily driver?

If all you want is performance and to mod then do it. For me I wouldn't do it. You can make a lot of power easily.

Tires and brakes are cheap. The engine, trans, and diff are stout. It gets good mileage for a car of it's performance level. For long drives on open roads, it's an excellent choice. But because I have kids, the Vette sits a lot. We are not planning on selling our '02 Z06. Too many memories, too much fun.

Now, what I DIDN'T like about the Vette:
We first went to Vette rallys. Vette owners are older, and more into waxing than hotrodding. Kind of snobby for a car that is affordable to the common Joe. The Camaro and Mustang guys are more my idea of fun.

Trade a new car (albeit a lesser V6) for an 11 year old Z06 Vette? Get real. As others have said, no warranty and financing an 11 year old car could be trouble. It sounds as if you're bored with the V6 and just want something "new". This isn't a good idea. Do the right thing and save your money for when you can trade for a newer car.
