Yeah JR. had a bad year last year. He struggled. He could not get his car the way he wanted it, and when he did, he made mistakes. It seemed as if he had no desire to race anymore.

As fort the 2nd place finish, I was DAMN glad to see him whip in there. Thanks to the "lucky" choice of the right line. It would NEVER be that he knew what to do and had the 00 pushing him.
Yes, LUCK is a part of racing, just like everybody.

I was really glad Jamie McMurray won, his 1st Daytona 500! and in a Chevy.

But to hate drivers for no real reason or whine and complain they did not deserve something, sounds like some of the drivers you people are complaining about.

I hope JR. has a great year.

oh, and since Jimmie Johnson finished in 36th and Jeff Gordon finished 26th, means they really SUCK.

Did he defy reality? Come on. He got 2nd. He earned 2nd. He earned it late, but he earned it.

The race wasn't over when he was 10th. It was over when he was 2nd. No one handed him second, It didn't fall in his lap.
He raced his way to 2nd. Just like McMurray raced his way to a win.

Some people let their hatred for a particular racer skew their perception of reality

Trust me, I am not invested enough in a particular racer or even NASCAR in general to get anymore invested in a back and forth with you or anyone else.

I just laugh at blinding bias. Something that can be found in Nascar discussions, and also found in Camaro vs Mustang topics.
And as for him finishing 2nd, He did what his dad always did, he may not have been great all day but at the end he but himself in contention for a good finish.

And Harvick did so much better?? His equipment is just as good as Earnhardts.

Explain to me why I keep seeing Danica Patrick Commercials.

I've seen at least 5 times as many Danica Patrick commercials as she has victories.

It's for the same reason Dale Jr. is the most popular driver in the Cup Series and hasn't won any championships. He and she is marketable. That is important in the NASCAR of today.

She's on TV and in NASCAR for one reason; ratings.

TV viewership of the Nationwide Series race at Daytona was up 33/% according to USA Today.

IMO, it's all about looks/personality and less about her ability to go into NASCAR and compete for wins/championships.

I truly believe we'll see a drop once again in ratings and coverage as the season progresses.
