I had Sirius from 2002 until a year or so ago. I looked into the lifetime deals but at the time they were tied to a specific satellite reciever so if your equipment died or you wanted to upgrade, you were SOL...

Yup, me too. And to those that think it is still active after expiration, check it a little closer. It is only channel 1 that is active, where they pitch you about XM, nothing else works.

Ah I see, good thing because I have had 4 different receivers over the life of my subscription.

XM RADIO

I'm in love with XM radio. Livin in Wisconsin I hate country and that's the only music stations you hear on the FM. I don't even own a I-Pod. I have been an XM subscriber since 2003 when it was in my Pontiac Grand AM. When I bought my grand am they gave me a whole year free now they have cut it back to 3 months. My free trial ends April 24th.:(

Unless the terms of my lifetime subscription purchased in 2008 were different than yours - I can transfer the lifetime sub to another receiver up to 2 times for a $75 fee each time. I still have a Starmate 4 plus the compatible boom box and car kits in the Camaro and Mrs tjd24's G6 Hard Top Convertible. No compelling reason to upgrade the Starmate 4.

So let me get this straight, are you auto-billed after the 3 month trial ends if you don't actively cancel the subscription?

I also called XM when I got my car (in January). I told them it would be in storage until Spring and asked if I could delay staring my 3 month free trial. They said that was fine. I will be calling them in early April to confirm that and start it up again. I'll let you know if they actually do it. If not, I would never buy it. I think the sound quality is terrible on XM compared to the sound from my ipod.

Strange? I just let the trial run out. I received a few mailings and probably a few phone calls, but that was it.

Had XM on all my cars for years

Love it for college football, Formula 1 racing, Nascar etc. Couldn't live without it.

This is what I would like to know as well I picked up my Camaro in November and the XM is still working. I was listening to it just yesterday on my way home.

If they have your credit card # they will automatically re-up your subscription. Their customer service is notorious for how bad it is . My guess is that it’s an outsourced call center in a third world country and... English is definitely not their first language.

I refused to give the On Star lady my credit card number when I set it up. I said "it ain't happening." They tried again and I said "let it go." She quit hounding me at that point. I'm really glad I didn't give it to them!

You better not have to call and cancel it. I'm sorry bought I paid $40k for a car, not a BS subscription.

I am not taking time out of my day to be hassled by some jerks because I don't want their bundled service.

I listened to it one night, but honestly I just don't care for it. I'll stick with my iPod, always something good on there.

Oh and this isn't even REMOTELY the first time I've heard XM being awful about billing/cancellation.

I never really had a problem with XM, they gave me 6 month free when I bought my Hummer, just wished they would have told me about the lifetime plan.
