Fastest stock LSx vs factory sealed Coyote

I have been trying to dig up info but have not been successful as of yet. I know in NMRA, there's a guy who runs 9's @ 138 mph with one in a 3k lb coupe. Do you guys think a LS3 (very similar factory power numbers) or LS2 in a similar chassis would be competitive?

If you put it in a body with similar weight and setup im sure you will have no problem setting records. There is alot going around about the factory sealed coyotes running cheater bolts as not too long ago a builder was talking about the factory sealed category and some of the dirty tricks. Here is an interesting article to read about it. http://www.hotrod.com/articles/ctrp-...ng-discussion/

It is definitely something I'd like to see. The challenge is an open challenge to whoever wants to accept it. I don't see anything short of a LS7 beating that car though. Would definitely be something to see for sure.

well lets compare the 2 sealed stock engines.

Camaro 426 hp 420 lft lb crate motor with accessories 418 lb
Mustang 420 hp 390 ft lb crate motor with accessories 444 lb

Given these 2 power plants i do not see why a LS3 powered 3k lb car could not perform similar if not better with more power and torque, given the same playing field. You are having a hard time finding comparable cars because nobody guts a stock car and never touches the motor. Sounds like the stang crowd trying to be gimmicky with the whole STOCK SEALED ENGINE PASS....in a sub 3k lb gutted car, 5k stall, 4.56 gears, race gas, and street tires right ?

And yet I have not seen one crack 9s yet in the proper class. This guy runs consistent 9s with an unmodified sealed Yote and has issued the challenge. I'd say stick one in a G-body and see how it does if you can cut the weight down to the 3000lb minimum. I like both engines and both cars. Displacement vs displacement, the Yote will stomp the piss out of a 302 cube LSx. And yes I'm very familiar with the external size differences. And the weight difference is very minimal as noted already. I'd love to see a 3k lb prepped G-body with a sealed LS3 run that Mustang. Iirc, has to have a factory style stick or auto trans, so no slick GeForce or Liberty trans. Leaves out the fancy Lenco too. I mention G-body because it has a very similar suspension setup in the rear.

Most ppl just don't care about running a factory sealed ls motor n/a, from what i've seen. It's been covered dozens of times in LMM, stock for stock.
