Defrost Ducts

Anyone have a problem with air always coming out the defrost ducts on their 2010 Camaro? I mentioned it to the dealer this morning and they are telling me that's normal, all Camaro's do that. Is that really normal for air to always come out the defrost ducts?

Yes, it's normal. If the windshield fogs up because of it, turn the defrost on high for a minute, it will clear right up.

It's typical that the defrost dampers don't close completely when you switch to the dash and/or floor ducts.

Thanks guys. I wonder if they fixed that on the 2011s.

Take it to another dealer.

I had air coming from places it shouldn't be and a GOOD dealer recalibrate the system and now it's fine. A very small amount of air will come out but it should not be noticeable.

If I may put in a quick .02. I just spoke with some of the members of our Technical Assistance team about this exact issue and they say that yes it is normal for some air to come through your defrost ducts. In fact this small amount of air is a government mandate (as was speculated in other threads) to ward off stale air within the cabin of the vehicle. I hope that helps to definitively answer the question.

There should not be enough air to fog the outside of the windshield when a/c is on. Tell the dealer the mode door is leaking.
