New ZL-1 or new street bike? hmm
So Ive been debating for a long time now... I cant quite afford the ZL-1 without financing it, but I do have about 12k saved toward it + the price of my 2SS/RS ... but Im thinking of getting something like a kawasaki ninja with the money instead to have 2 toys instead of 1...
thing is, 9/10 people on the road here in florida have NO CLUE how to drive, no exaggeration, Im used to close quarters NYC driving paying complete attention and down here, people just dont pay attention at all... I see it everyday way to often... I raced motocross for many years and know how to work a bike as well so im not worried about my abilities, just that some idiot who isnt paying attention is going to kill me (I saw an accident last week where the biker was on the floor 100+ feet from the car, while the miss frizzle looking lady in the red toyota corolla was standing by her car with her hand on her mouth as if she was saying 'omg i just killed someone'" But the ZL-1 would be sweet and its track ready, so I just dont know which is worth it more opinions?

I ride. If it were me I'd keep the SS and get the bike. Some idiot not paying attention can potentially splatter you all over the pavement no matter how safe or attentive the majority of people on the road are, so the way I look at it you just have to accept the fact that riding is an activity that has the very real possibility of killing or crippling you. That, or don't ride.
I recently relocated Abu Dhabi, which is currently somewhere in the top 5 cities worldwide for traffic fatalities. Once the summer's over and I can ride a bike without bursting into flame, I will definitely be picking up another motorcycle. Certainly not the safest thing I can be doing with my time, but nothing else really compares. |

Here's my issue with the ZL1: It's a $50k Camaro. The essence of the car is obtained at the $30k level. You're spending $20k extra for a worked version of an SS. IMHO, not worth it.
In the Bike world, you can spend $4k for some used bike, and it will do 0-60 in sub 4 seconds. Plus it puts you in a whole separate category of enthusiasts and hobbyists. A bike is a lot of fun. My choice...I've got my 2011 SS and also my bike, an '03 Ducati 749s. With a good driving record, the bike has been relatively cheap to insure, even in my 20's. I've had it for 4 years now and it's been an absolute blast. |

get the bike and then save up and put a Supercharger on the SS.

I just sold my ninja a couple weeks ago...didn't like paying insurance on two toys. On the other hand, the bike was nice to take out on buggy nights...much easier to clean off.
