Long Road trip

Just finished a 3000 mile round trip in our 2013 SS convertible. (With automatic transmission.) Santa Fe NM to Seattle WA and back. What a great road car! We averaged 21.5 miles per gallon, and we were driving it hard. About half the time, we had the top down, and even at high speeds, buffeting was minimal. (We did have the windows up at high speed, it made a huge difference when the top was down.) Top speed, 114 mph in northern Utah, we had cruise control set at 102 for a while on I 84. The Nav system worked well, although it took a while to figure out all of its functions and where to find them. The seats were great, comfortable and supportive even for marathon driving sessions. Certain pavement types created significant tire noise, but that is to be expected with those big Pirellis I guess. Oh, and no tickets. My wife got pulled over in Washington state, but she let us off with a warning.

Anyway, it was a blast, so I thought I would share!

Sounds like a great trip! And yes, I think these Gen 5s are great long-distance cruisers.

That reminds me of my trip from Chicago to Arizona just before I deployed, yea I agree it is a great road car. I had so much room to stretch my feet without stopping. By the way I drove 23 hrs straight just 1hr short of a le mans lol.

My Gen 5 seems to just LOVE eatting up highway miles. It's like it's happiest between 65mph and 90mph

Drove from Cleveland,Ohio to Fort Myers Florida. I absolutely loved every mile of the trip. Around 1300 miles, I would love to be able to drive through every state with this car. To me it is a very comfortable ride.

Just did NC to MO just short of 1000 miles averaging 23.8 MPG. Awesome drive over the backside of the Smokey Mountains on I-40.

21.5 sounds about right for an extended trip like that. I am planning a trip to Austin, Tx. later this year and I'd be pleased with 21.5.

I love long trips in mine. Only bad part is my right knee starts to hurt because the angle it's at for long distances. I sit closer to the wheel then I did in my automatic so I can work the shifter and clutch better, so now once I'm on the interstate and I know I will be for and hour or more, I slide the seat back and ease it up when I get back to surface roads. Other than that, she's a highway eating machine. I too get about 21-22 MPG in mine, but I run 75-80 a lot.

I just made a road trip from tucson az to sturgis sd roughly 1300 miles and I would agree, These cars make great long haulers. Mine is a v6 so I was able to average about 30 mpg
