Key cutting

finally happened - switchblade opened while attached to my belt loop, and I sat on it, broke. Never found it, but ordered a replacement - now to get the blank cut. I work during the day, wife dosent really like driving my Camaro, but I remembered they gave me these tags when i bought it new, saying if I ever needed a replacement, or cut, it can be done from this tag... So, thought I would have my wife drop off the blank, and the tag so I can pick up later. I honestly dont see how, but thought Id run it bt everyone to see if its been done before...? thoughts?

the dealer probably is the one who will need to cut it from the tag. they can also use your VIN to get the key code and cut it.

but can they pull the code from a vin?

the tag they might be able to have access to the software... and they definitely can make a copy from another key.

Some locksmiths can easily make you a copy if you have the key part but like you said, you never found it. Using the tag requires a programmable cutter so don't be surprised if you have to go to the dealer. How many locksmiths are going to spend thousands of dollars for a programmable cutter that can only cut GM keys?
