Hyundai Genesis Coupe V6 got 5.7 sec!!!

" Is there a segment of the market that Hyundai isn't targeting? Whether through its namesake brand or via its subsidiary
The new Genesis Coupe is an even greater engineering feat than it is a design coup... and it looks fabulous. (Photo: Hyundai)
Kia, every category from subcompact hatchbacks to V8-powered luxury sedans and full-size 4x4-capable SUVs has a competitive model vying for its piece of the action.

The first vehicle to truly stun auto industry pundits was the full-size Veracruz crossover, and that only came after a Santa Fe that did its fair share of jaw dropping. Comments such as Lexus-like appointments were followed up with BMW-like handling and breathtaking acceleration when the Genesis sedan arrived, overshadowing its own full-size front-drive Azera and near best-in-class Sonata. Now the Korean segment shaker is taking on BMW's sacrosanct 3-Series Coupe with its new Genesis Coupe, making some pretty bold claims that it will have to live up to as soon as the first test drives take place.

By targeting BMW's 3, Hyundai knows that all other comers will be pushed to the side, the German car revered above all direct competitors, other than possibly the Infiniti G37 Coupe for handling prowess. Therefore other rear-drive sport coupes like Ford's Mustang, Dodge's new Challenger and Chevy's

upcoming Camaro, at least in V6 trim, will be automatically disqualified. Right off the mark its 310-horsepower 3.8-liter V6 and 3,402 pound curb weight give it a better power to weight ratio than the top-line 335i, Infiniti's G37, the Camaro LS and the Challenger.

The numbers speak for themselves, with a 0 to 60 mph time of just 5.7 seconds and EPA highway fuel consumption in the 25 mpg range."

Well, it's lighter, has a bigger engine with more horsepower, and will cost more.
I would hope it was faster to give people SOME reason to buy it over a Camaro : )

first.

If i was infiniti, id sue the shit out of them for building a car earily similar to the G37

second...

im not impressed by this.... 5.7 is slow for a car which is supposed to be competative with the mustang/G37/3-series.

and to be honest. i dont think its faster than the V6 maro. I think once the real world cars come out people will see a 5.7 from their cars.

those 2 pics just show the genesis good angles if you look at it from any other angle its as ugly as a cow IMO

as for the average consumer they do not want the fastest car or the car that can handle like a Ferrari, i

my first priorities for buying a car are

1. Looks,

2. fuel efficient(if a car has bad fuel efficiancy its a huge turn off for me)

3.price 22k for v6 camaro

4.HP

the genesis is a good car dont get me wrong but I will always buy American :flag2:

Really? 5.7 seconds is only 0.3 seconds slower than a G37, and depending on which magazine you go by, it's only about 0.3-0.5 seconds slower than a Mustang GT (though with the torque the V8 puts out compared to the Hyundai V6, I'd expect the Mustang to have an acceleration edge). So it's still comparable to those vehicles.

its .3 and .7 slower than the OLD Mustang and G37, not the new models.

so it does 0-60 in 5.7 eh? Not bad, not bad at all. Too bad the Genesis Coupe V6 is going to probably end up costing the same as a Camaro SS, although it'll compete surely against a loaded V6 Camaro.

What are the times for the new ones? I could only find stats for 2008.
