I have been watching the Indy 500 ever since it was 1st televised...before that, my Dad used to listen to it on the radio, when it used to be held on the actual Memorial Day...

He was a Volunteer fireman, and he would march in the Memorial Day Parade with the fire department, come home, still in his dress uniform, and sit with the transistor radio 'glued to his ear' all afternoon, listening to his favorite race!!!...

This had to be a fantastic experience --- and to see 125 NEW Camaros at once, was something else. Thanks for the GREAT pics so we could experience a little of it.

The Eastern Michigan Camaro Club will hold their annual Camaro Superfest on July 2, 3 and 4 in Ypsilanti, Mi. and drive out to Michigan International Speedway (MIS) on Friday, July 2. Check out the their site at www.emcamaro.org Last year there were about 180 Camaros (all gens) at the track (out of about 300 at the Superfest).

It isn't Indy, but it is a great time to experience Camaros. All Camaro drivers are welcome.

has anyone been contacted by their car dealer about a owner appreciation night at the Indy track on the 29th of May. I am being told that there is going to be around 600 camaros and corvettes there. They are going to send out a mass e-mail when the names are all confirmed with more details.

Remember when CART and the IRL both existed? IRL ran it's first indy 500 and at the same time CART had a race at Michigan International....more people watched the race at Michigan - no one knew anyone in IRL....

IRL was "only going to run ovals" since CART was coming up with road courses...CART drivers slowly jump ship to the IRL... and CART disappears. IRL starts doing road courses...

at least, that's who I remember it.

I will never forget eating with Bobby Unser, Al and little Al in Bobby Unser's trailer in Milwaukee, and meeting a few others like Rick Mears, Mario Andretti and Jose Garza. The Unser's were the nicest racing family I ever met.

I have to thank OldSchoolCamaro for inviting me along for the great moment. We had a blast!!! It was very cool to see all the camaros lined up, then driving around the track. We were going into turn three when there were still cars coming out of turn 2. Plus, all the fans there to watch practice, were cheering us on and waving. Very cool moment to remember.

Well not to de-rail the thread, oh yes I remember. I was here in my seats watching the IRL race. CART kept saying the real race car drivers were in Michigan. And the real drivers had a huge pile-up, multi-car accident ON THE PARADE/WARM-UP LAP!
