Thanks. Yeah, I expected to hear some noise from the gears. It isn't too bad. So far I have been driving with the stereo turned off so I can hear anything strange or unusual. When I'm comfortable enough to turn the stereo on, I doubt I'll hear the whine very much.
I agree on the 500 mile thing, but I'm going to follow the letter of the instructions from the installer in case there is a problem down the road they won't be able to point to improper break-in and refuse to warranty their work. Thanks for the FB friend request too.

As for tires, I have a set of BFG Comp2 A/S tires on order. I should have them on the car by the middle of next week. These worn out Pirellis really leave a lot to be desired.

Those may work. Currently I'm running Continental extreme contact sports....not as good and my old MPSS. I may turn to a drag type tire, since that is what I have planned for the future. I don't expect anything shorter than that to grip when floored in 1st.

I'm hoping that my racing budget allows for some drag wheels and tires. Need a cam first tho.

I just realized the irony in this whole thread, with the original title of the thread and what ended up happening instead
A set of 17s or even 18s would be good. The 18s with the Nittos serve me pretty well. When you add even more power, you could even look at 15" conversions. ...thats whats on the table for me next.

Dang Chris, looking at your signature, you have that car flying! Do you have a roll bar/cage?

Very cool video. Thanks for sharing!
I'm learning that I have a lot to learn. I was under the impression that NHRA rules require a roll bar for cars with 11.49 ET and faster. Maybe I have that all wrong or perhaps your track doesn't conform to NHRA standards. I'm confused.

Below 11.49 though? The funny thing is that if I were to install a roll cage, I bet the added weight would put me back over that number

I think the rule is just 9.99 in general now, it was stipulated by year of production for a while. I'd have to look it up, but it's not 11.49 any more, I'm pretty confident of that.

are 4.10 gears noisier than 3.91?

Gear noise is heavily dependent on a number of factors. The biggest being setup - if they aren't right, it doesn't matter what the ratio is, it'll make a bunch of noise. There are other things that'll heighten gear noise as well outside of the gears themselves - differential bushings and subframe bushings have a lot to do with how much or little noise get's transferred into the car. As you stiffen those components for performance purposes, you increase the noise potential. Add in something like the LPW differential cover support, which has load bolts that tighten right down on the ring gear caps, and give gear noise even more ease to transfer into the cabin.
All that said, a well setup set of gears shouldn't be noisy. Once you've gone hardcore with solid subframe bushings, pro diff bushings, a diff cover, etc, it's not unreasonable that you'd get some noise, but it shouldn't sound like a roots blower in the backseat either.
