If masked properly then no machined surfaces will be touched by blast media. And if cleaned/prepped properly then there should be no contamination. Much like painting the most important step is the cleaning/prep. I did coating for a few years, never had an issue with contamination if I took my time and cleaned the right way. I also never had an adhesion issue over time.

Awesome. I kinda figured this whole issue comes down to the attention to detail they have during the process. I should have them back tomorrow.

You are lucky. My local powder coating shop is at least 6 weeks out for anything.

These numbers are after the cool down lap taken as soon as the car was in the pit area. They were significantly higher on track. It is a safe bet they were well over 400 degrees.

Any update on how they came out? I'm having mine done and am a little concerned about the seals.

oops, totally forgot about this thread.

All is well. As far as the calipers go, after talking with Mike (thepowdercoater) he said that he prefers to carefully remove and reinstall the pistsons and seals but says that it's normally safe to leave them in.

I would have removed them myself but I didn't want to jacke em up and have to pay for the new piston/seal kit. I couldn't find a kit for just the seals. And the piston/seal kit was pretty pricey for the CTSV calipers.

We did a complete system flush to try and help get any remaining contaminants out of the calipers.

I've got about 1500 miles on them and zero problems.

Whoa. 2 keyboards. You must be important.

If those brake calipers scratch that desk it's coming out of your pay.

I would remove the seals. It's simply not worth the risk, as these are your BRAKES! Why risk it?
