Should I replace the slave cylinder?
I have a 2011 SS m6 (65k miles). The engine is out and wondering if I should just go ahead and replace slave cylinder? I thought I read about slave problems from the early 5th gens? I have not had a clutch problem but It would be my luck for it to go out after the car is back together.

Big difference in prices on #24266013
Summit has it at $432 GM Parts Direct $285 Tick Performance $278 Rock auto $146 As far as I know #24266013 is the updated on for all v8 manuals. Is there some reason I should not get the $146 one from Rock Auto? |

Get a billet bearing support from Monster or Tick and ditch the plastic one in your new slave.
Monster sells new slaves with the billet support already installed if you prefer. A remote bleeder is a good idea too.

Hey guys, just confirming that if one plans to pull out the transmission to replace the clutch, replacing the slave isn't necessary, but a "might as well". Correct?

Yes. lf it ain't broke don't fix it. BUT, since your there it is easy to do. I've reused mine plenty of times with no problems. Just make sure to check the throwout bearing for excessive wear and be sure it spins freely. It pops right off, so you can grease it as well.

I got the billet ram slave no plastic at all, did this when my old Gm slave went to shit and blew my master cylinder as well. honestly while you’re in there do a tick billet master cylinder and ram slave and be done with it. Heat kills and I learned the hard way lol.
