Agreed, the problem with a lot of the generic canned tunes (one size fits all tune) is they're overly safe to the point they're giving up a lot of power. |

That's way less than I was quoted. Something like 2k to install and tune!!!

Are canned tunes safe? Do you think GM custom tuned each ZR1 and Each ZL1? The term canned tune is used loosely, every car comes with a canned tune by the definition.

This is correct. Thats why almost every stock car can gain something from a custom tune. You tune in the differences.

what i think is the general meaning of 'canned tune' is a custom tune that is more aggressive than what came from the factory yet is still generic enough to apply to a wide range of vehicles with various minor mods & still work with the varying grades of fuel.

NO, that 2k was for the install and tune only, minus the supercharger.

Agreed -- the canned tunes are basically safe. They tend to be conservative, as they well should be. Many we've seen are specific adjustments to the stock tune, but don't actually correct any errors in the factory mapping. Only specific engine tuning will optimize the upgrade to deliver the most power, best throttle response and maximum fuel efficiency.
