Car feels slow

Did cam, long tubes no cats ,intake , full 3" outlaw catback

Did BMR toe and trail arms with there pro poly subframe bushings , BMR front and rear sway bar and there end links to go with them

305 45 18 Micky drag radials and race star wheels

Car just does not seem to have the power one would expect from a 450whp car , maybe the tires just hook to well to seem like it's lacking on power? Only done remote tuning with wideband so don't know if it's worth it to get dyno'ed for that extra power might pick up

You may need a dyno tune.

My car is 485 rwhp and it is pretty quick feeling, when the tires hook up it halls ass. The better the tires the faster it feels, when the tires spin it slows the car down. Get it dyno'd and see where its at.

What cam is it?

My 442 definitely doesn't feel slow to me. You may need a dyno tune.

Check your canned tune .Without a proper tune you won't get the benefits from your mods. Did you data log it ?

You mightve gotten bad gas. Could try syphening it out, and putting new fuel in.

It's all relative. I have over 700hp and I think it feels slow. I want it to feel like my R1 when accelerating. Some people are easily impressed, others spend money and want to feel something so they say they do(perfect example is the vitesse throttle controller), and others are realistic.

In my opinion 500 hp in these heavy cars is nothing. My '99 Z28 went 13.1 stock with a cold air and longtubes at Gainesville Raceway back in the early 2000's and it felt way faster. I have many miles of 1/4 mile passes, every week for a couple years. I'm not impressed by gimmicks or numbers.

I think these newer cars numb the feeling a bit....

For instance, my 97 GT was a aluminum block PI swapped, 4r70w swapped to TR3550, full bolt-on car with 3:73's. 3,220lb (about 3,440lb with driver) car without driver.

The GT felt faster than my 2010 Camaro SS with Vararam and Corsa catback even though the SS was 4 tenths faster in the 1/4 mile. The Camaro was 4050lbs with me and 3/4 tank of fuel.

Now I'm closer to 500 whp and in the 11's but it still doesn't feel fast to me.

I don't think this 5th Gen will feel quick to me until I get in the 10's. LOL

I think you're onto something as far the "feel" of the new cars. The power is certainly more manageable. I can get into an old '70's Malibu with a shift kit and some decent engine mods and it feels like I'm being shot to the moon. Then again, when you're a passenger it always feels faster too.

I will also add that the mechanical throttle on the F body Camaros of the late 90's and early 2000's made it feel faster as well. These drive by wire throttles drive me crazy.

It is possible.....that your cam sacrifices punch off the line and at low RPMs in order to achieve that 450HP peak.

Also.....if those 305/48-18 tires are a bigger diameter than your OEM tires then you have LOST effective gear ratio.

Finally, if you have the auto transmission but still have the OEM torque converter.....then hell.....you could say that's 'strike three'.

In other words, you can get more peak power with a cam swap, but unless you have the necessary accessories/bolt-ons, your car can lose quite a bit of off-the-line performance. BTW....a dyno will help you to see if this is the case and to what extent.

Best of luck!

KW
