So order the four pack gauges after you take delivery.

He'd still be short leather. Once you're at that point why not go for the whole shebang? (unless you can't afford it of course!)

The connectivity package is what bugs me the most on the 1SS I want the controls on the wheel.. other than that i would order the 4 gauge pack from the dealer down the road.
kinda bugs me you can get the connectivity package on the LT1 but not the 1SS

Packages are bundled to keep costs down. I agree there are few things that don't make sense to me, but some people want a fully loaded V6 while others want a stripped down V8....Like others have stated the 1SS is not stripped down enough foe some people.

You then have your choice of base/loaded V6 or V8--Just have to decide what is most important to you...

A 1SS is not intended to be a step up in content from the 2LT. It is a powertrain and chassis upgrade. So from a 1LT to a 1SS you get the same step up in content as you do from a 2LT to a 2SS.

What I hear you saying is that if you buy a base V8 with the lower price you should just get the content of the 2SS for free.

I'd like that deal too, as would anyone. Unfortunately, you have to look at it 2 ways. 1 vs. 2 and LT vs. SS.

Makes perfect sense to me - they offer a lower & higher level V6, and a lower & higher level V8.

I've said it before and here it is again... all SS models should have a FULL SET OF GAUGES!

Well the only time I would ever look at this is not moving. They are too low for a safe gauge sweep and need to be moved up more towards eye level.

They might look or fit good but as a driver you don't want them that low. It's disconnected from driver logic and is more for wire routing and looks. IMO*.

So 1SS does not need these...

I wish they had an LS trim version with the LS 3 in it.

Well like other have said they cluster options to save money and make more money. They should have started out with a base SS that had all the same gauges and steering wheel controls, from there it would be on you to add leather, bluetooth etc. I do think a just leather option would be smart. Back in the day you could go line by line for options but now you cant. In reality you pay more for the 2ss just to get maybe one thing you want and the other things you can care less about. My self I would have liked leather, but heated seats and mirrors were worthless for me because Im not driving it when its cold. And Bluetooth is cool but I doubt i would use it that much.
