DIY: 2012 Steering Wheel Emblem Overlay
this is my first DIY post. i wanted to change the look of the gold/silver bowtie on my steering wheel so i used some left over carbon fiber vinyl i had.
-place a small piece of blank paper over the emblem and rub over the emblem with a pencil. -cut out the paper template and do a "dry fit" on the steering wheel emblem, trim as needed. -when your happy with the fit, place the paper template onto whatever vinyl material you have and with a straight edge, score around the paper template. I used an x-acto knife. -remove the excess from the vinyl and do another "dry fit" on the steering wheel, trim if needed. -remove the backing and press the new vinyl into place. i think it looks much better than the gold center. |

Great Idea
The steering wheel looks great.
Where can I can get the Carbon Fiber Material and does it have backing that will peel and stick once it is cut? |

Hi
Hi Thank you for your post for the steering wheel emblem overlay.
Could you tell me where you get the carbon fiber and how will it adhere to the original emblem Again thanks for your great post. |

ebay is where i bought mine. the carbon fiber vinyl is just like a heavy duty sticker, with a super sticky backing. make sure you clean the emblem before you attatch the vinyl, you dont want any products like detailer on the surface, otherwise the vinyl wont stick. hope that helps
