Man that guy was a turd. It's just a car dude. It's not the end of the word. It can be fixed. Have a cup of coffee a Marlboro and relax.

Last summer at a bar, a buddy of mine opened my car door into the car next to me. Two paint chips on the edge of the door came off down to the primer. He was drinking too much (again) and it was the second insident with the same guy. I had to ban him from my camaro. I fixed it and we're still friends he's just not allowed in my car.

The second insident was a different guy. When he was getting out of my car he took off his seat belt and flung the shoulder strap back. The metal part of the buckle smashed aginst the window and took a nice gouge out of my window tint.

The other favorite thing to do for my passengers is to slam the door really hard. Dang! The door closes with two fingers people. It's not a Dodge.

It's amazing how people such as your (ex) friend are reckless with other peoples property. It's not intentional they just don't pay attention.

I read as far as where she said your young and stupid... that anyone else would have drove off.

That actually shows how stupid she is. Dump her. Obviously she cares for no one elses material things. Let her walk.

I only read the first thread page. I would say it is both of your fault and that the cost should have been split (Honest Guy & Wacky bitch passenger). I make it a point to tell anyone in my car to be careful when getting out because the doors are huge and heavy. Why would you park so close- Especially to another Camaro that has the same huge doors?

Personally, I don't care if the doors swing out 6 feet. My 8 and 11 yo kids know to hold onto the door(s) in ANY car when they open them. They know damn well what will happen if they hit anyone's car whether it's with the Camaro, my wife's 09 Galant, or even my 02 Impala DD. Which car it is doesn't matter- that I've taught them respect and common sense does.

Well, everyone has an opinion. But just so you know, I never said I parked close, I am not an idiot. I left plenty of room. As for warning my passenger. My "ex-friend" is 50 years old...I didn't think to treat her like a child and remind her how to open a door properly and with respect to property. But, hindsight is 20/20...maybe I should have.

that dude is probably going to rip you off and get his "friend" with an auto body to make some fake estimate...he doesn't sound like he's of good moral character to be honest...any normal rational person would appreciate you leaving the note and your contact information...because nobody would just wait there just so he can call the police a note is more than sufficient...besides if you just left comprehensive coverage should cover it

f*ck that guy seriously

+1 I made sure my son knew from day one to be very careful around other peoples vehicles. I don't care how old or what condition it is in.

You weren't wrong tekkguy.

But that guy was definitely an asshole. 2 weekends ago a 16 yr old kid in a white truck was parked next to me in the p lot of a paintball arena. He opened his door, walked off, and the wind blew it unmitigatedly into my car. I was definitely upset, but he was cooperating, and agreed to pay....so what else do I have the right to be mad about? The hassle? It was an accident...

I would have given that guy my info and told him to "f**k off. Call me when u get a quote.". Sorry for the abrasiveness..

Question? You are about to get married and hanging out with a chick? Hm...

Anyway, when I got my car, I picked up my wife from work and we went to dinner. I was just talking to her to be careful with the door and how being a new car I'd like to keep is mint. So we part and sure enough, she hits the car next to us. I didn't notice any damage to anyone but I got upset about it. We just bought it 2 hours earlier, we just talked about it. It seems like chicks never pay attention to this. I had an ex who was notorious for hitting my doors cars and other things like polls or whatever was next to the parking spot.

If that guy went off on me about it I wouldn't pay for a thing. He can try to claim insurance but parking lots are private property which your insurance doesn't legally cover. Most likely they will still pay, but they can also deny it. Seen it happen many times. Just like you can't be ticketed for traffic violations in a parking lot, unless it is public such as at City Hall. Grocery stores, malls, etc...all private.
