I wanted ABM when I bought mine, but it had been discontinued. I would pay $500 to get Kinetic Blue.

My reasoning for that is simple. If I were to buy this car in some other color, and pay a body shop to paint my car, nose to tail, in KBM it would probably cost $5000 or more? But that would still cost less than the hotwheels package, and I wouldn't have all those stupid hotwheels logos and heavy ass 21" wheels.
You're damn straight. I'm planning on buying a 2SS with the 1LE package and would like to get that Kinetic Blue on it. It's apparent that a lot of people are like us and would pay a little extra to get it too. Wake up GM.

I bet they'll make it available on the 2014's. When the Hot Wheels package is done.

Do you have some sort of inside information that we should know about?

Lets put it this way: If I can't get that color on my next Camaro, which would be next year, I will get a Mustang ragtop. One, Ford has some neat colors, and two, they know how to make a convertible that works, which GM does not.

Same here I was really disappointed when I went to order mine and they said it was discontinued. If they bring it back this year or next I'll be at my Chevy dealer in a "Heartbeat". I don't like the Hot Wheels edition thou.

This is something that I've also considered. I really like grabber blue.

They are taking orders between January and June of 2013 only for the Hot Wheels edition Camaro.

I'd pay the $325 or whatever the rate is for specialty paint.

And the last time the paint issue (the last time I read about it anyway), there were several factors brought up. First, being a limited number of colors available for ALL models produced at this facility. Second, the fact that any new color offered won't make everyone happy anyway. Third, the ABM was dropped because of poor sales...PERIOD. Yes, a bunch of us would like blue, but the sales numbers speak for themselves. Fourth, and a key factor. There is a huge expense involved in getting a color ready for production. This is the biggest reason for colors not changing often.

With the fourth factor in mind, now that the Kinetic blue is available, even though it's only currently available on the special edition, it wouldn't surprise me at all to see it offered on all models next year, if not sooner. They have already spent the money to make the color available, they might as well take advantage of it. Same as with the green.

This has been my major gripe here. The color is ALREADY being used, so what's the problem with making it available on the rest of the line....unless Mattel has a say in it.
