I just don't get why everyone thinks a high end supercharged model should be coming out the first year. Everyone keeps comparing with the GT500. But has everyone forgot that the new Mustangs were 2005 model year and the GT500 didn't come out until 2007???????
Seems about right to me that you get a feel for the market, take a year or 2 to tweak the car and work out the kinks then put out a monster version |

im gona wait and hear what gm is offical gona say about the z/28.
i dont see them killing the z/28 name after 40 years of use. when people think z/28 they automaticly think camaro, when people say ss people think chevelle, camaro, imapla, monte carlo, nova, and now hhr, cobalt. imo i cant see them killing the haritage behide the camaro, with all that talk about going back to the camaros roots.

The biggest amazement for me today was how accurate our guesses were. The leaks proved close or better.
They have a Z28 supercharged model, it was established a long time ago. Search some Z28 threads here. It was also leaked that the Z28 would not be available at launch, that it would launch around the same time as the 'vert. There's no news here. The caveat is that if gas prices continue to rise, GM may kill the Z28 before it makes production. I doubt any final decision has been made. Finally, if you must have a supercharger, buy one and stick it on your LS3. there are many bolt-on kits for the Corvette, and will be for the Camaro too.

It's coming, don't worry (IMO). Buy an SS now, then sell it when the Z28 becomes available. ChrisL - also posted that CP clarified the question and said she was asked if the Z28 was coming out with the first production models (not an exact quote) and her answer was No. To me...this means it is not coming out next spring, but it does not mean it will never come out. As others said - Keep The Faith. ON ANOTHER NOTE: CP said the accessories will be introduced at SEMA. I'll be at Indy, I'm hoping to see something there. CP also said pricing will not be provided until 30-60 days before production. So, we won't be seeing pricing until Dec/Jan. She also said it would be competitive with the Mustang. ALL IS GOOD! THERE IS A HEAVEN!: |

I don't know, my feeling is that her words were pretty definitive as "No Z28." I just don't get the feeling there is a "for now" tacked on to that, and I feel like all of us who called the reporters who said otherwise liars have egg on our faces. I'm gonna man up and say that I think I owe Bob Holland from Edmunds and that reporter from LLN an apology.
I think it looks pretty poor that on the same day they babble on and on and on about their devotion to Camaro heritage they also say they're dropping the most iconic Camaro designation just because it doesn't fit with their econo-car trim naming scheme, never mind that it fits just fine with their performance car naming scheme. We're not the only ones with egg on our faces. EDIT: OK I just read CP's response and it looks like the reporter misquoted the question, and now all indicators are that it will just be a few years out. Once again, I'll man up and call myself an idiot. Egg, meet stovt's face. I could serve up a heck of an omelet now.

It has always been my understanding that there will be a Z28, just not at launch. the "Z28" moniker is as recognized as the Camaro name. |
