Yes the Camaro is made to compete in the same niche market as mustang but I wouldn't call it a copy. Mustang as the article noted is a basic very basic V8 coupe, the Camaro is far more advanced for just a little more dough it's a huge bargain really. Honeslty the article was written by a jealous little fan boy such as yourself who probably can't afford the camaro because he's locked up in some dumb 60 month lease for his base model GT mustang.

Like I always say...

Too many people out there think that they're car experts just because they've been to one or two auto shows and read a bunch of Wikipedia articles.

Don't listen to them, buy the cars you want, and if they don't like it, then smoke them at the track.

It's nice to see how lots of you guys get upset to see these mustang fanboy's opinions, but I have to say I am happy to see that they are worred enough to try and publicly degrade this car (which is the only aspect of this that angers me, that Motortrend would publish this). I am happy that the Camaro - Mustang rivalry looks like it will be revived, which should lead to both companies putting everything they have into their respective muscle cars in order to top the other. This should lead to the best possible products, which makes me very !

You know, I'm a mustang fan myself, but then again, when I look at the new camaro, I see 500 Horse powers, a complete new design, really cool interior design, better 0-60, variable valve timing which is really helpful, both for everyday driving and economical reasons, and generally so much new technology and great specs this car has that the mustang, at least for now, doesn't. now I might drive a mustang, I might love the car, but I could only love a 2009 mustang, because it's a mustang, nothing more, and definitely not because it's any better than the new camaro. just as it isn't better than the corvette. these are all different cars with different, let's say "feeling"s. so if you ask me which car do I like better, a camaro or a mustang? it's like asking me which one do I like better, a blonde or a brunette? of course I love them both, but each in a different way..

kanys,

You have a point. I mean...I was more upset at the fact that Motor Trend printed this crap to begin with. I really want to know what they are thinking. GM let's them do a test drive that they are SO pleased with that they rave about it. They LOVE it.

Then, they go and print out this crap to be.....what? Fair? ....to the Mustang buyer??

C'mon, Motor Trend...give me a break. There is no truth to these guys articles! I can't believe you published the one about the guy w/ the 4 dollar gas and the hatchback! WTF are ya'll thinking? That was pure arrogance! ....on both your parts!

Sorry, but did you really just say Dodge copied the LS1 for the Hemi....lol...you don't know much about the history of the Hemi do you? That motor design is a hell of a lot older than the LS1...try like 30 years older. On top of that all V8's are similar at the block...the LS1 and Hemi are completely different in the cylinder heads....Hemi's actually have superior design for moving air in and out because the intake valve and exhaust valve nearly face each other in the hemispherical chamber.

I'm no Dodge fan boy, in fact I already have my Camaro on order, but nobody can argue with Hemi engines from the early 70's that were rated 425 hp, but dyno'd over 700 stock.
