A Note to GM: please make an LSD available on all Camaros

I have my eyes on a 5th gen Camaro. It would be a daily driver and we live in northern Ohio. So I'd want every piece of mechanical or electronic technology that would make this car safer and better performing in the snow.

I assume stability control will be at least an option on every trim level, from turbo 4/V6 to V8, because it's going to be a gov't mandate soon anyway.

But please do not make the same mistake you made with the G8 V6, leaving the car somewhat hobbled with an open differential!! I want an available Limited Slip Differential, to be able to get the maximum performance out of this car, in wet or dry conditions. Don't put the LSD only on the V8 models please. It's easily worth the $600-700 you'd charge for it. And I know it's already in the parts bin thanks to the CTS with its 3.6.

Thank you
Brian

I'm sure they'd offer it as at least an option, even on V6 models. Didn't they do that with the 4th Gens. too, with like a performance package in the V6? I'm sure they'd offer it, in the least, with anti-slip regulation, or the like. I can't see them not doing that, especially with the cold weather testing images that has been posted on here.

My V6 4th Gen had it, I have no doubt the 5th Gen will.

I expect that as an option. As previously said, the winter testing is a pretty clear sign that they have some sort of limited-slip project in the works.

you realize some of us are old enough that Limited Slip Differential is not the first thing that comes to mind when we see LSD.

Glad im not the only one who had that flash back!;

Seriously...i want a AWD system...don't care about the extra weight...being extremely over powered and light weight does nothing for me up here in the Seattle!...If its not Rain, Its Snow, Ice, Leafs, pine cones, rocks..ect...ect...all over the roads!

I'd like to keep it out of the ditch if all possiable!

yup, just to clarify its known as a Y87 Package. I believe it had the LSD, Dual Exhaust, Better tires from factory, steering rack from the V8s and 4 wheel disc brakes.

The GTO (my Monaro) has an LSD. Would make sense for the Camaro to have one.

Same here. I hope we don't get some electronic traction control version of it like some of the other manufacturers are offering instead of a true limited slip.

a nice limited Slip or posi-trac is really almost a requirement for the big V8.

Of course I am still hoping for AWD. I'd really like something adaptive like what Subaru puts out.

Chevrolet now uses a locking rear differential in our trucks instead of the limited slip. This might transfer over for the Camaro.

Do those trickle down into the half-tons too? I'm only asking because I'd figure they wouldn't be as quiet in a passenger car or something like that. I can't relate as my cars have only had limited slips so I'm interested in learning a little more (I do understand how they work mechanically, however am more interested in their applications, FWIW.)
