I really like the blackened front end on the LS7 Camaro. Does anyone know if that's an insert or if it was painted?

my guess is vinyl, like the rear end between the lights

That particular one is probably painted but it's totally capable of being made an insert or decal.

I've never been a fan of mocking models, so I would hope my attempt wouldn't be viewed as mimicking the LS7. But I really do like that look. I think it brings more attention to the nose making it look more aggressive.

as long as you don't go slapping an "LS7" badge on it i think you'll be fine in not mimicking it.
