Speedometer on LT vs SS

OK so I finally got to test drive the new Camaro - it was a 2LT. The interior is so-so, but what is up with the speedometer? I know they're going for the retro thing, but man that thing is hard to read! The numbers are too thin and too close together for me. I knew I was going somewhere between 40 and 60 mph, but I couldn't easily tell the actual speed.

Then I noticed in some photos that the speedometer in the 2SS is way different, and much easier to read! I'm guessing there is no way to "switch out" the speedometers between the two models, right?

I was leaning towards the 2LT since it would be my daily driver, and I already have a 2002 SS that I'm keeping as my fun car. But this speedometer thing is a major problem for me.

Am I just nuts here, or does anyone feel the same way?

Eh...I never once looked at the speedometer when I drove...I was too entertained by the hood...but I knew I was going speed limit all the time

I just tried to enjoy it as much as I could.

I've been using the DIC speedometer instead.

Yes. Scroll through and you should see it. As far as I know, the DIC is not different between LT and SS.

just use the digital read if you have trouble reading the speedometer. i rarely use the normal speedometer, mostly cause cops here in Buena Vista, VA, are CRAZY..............

Yea, on the left stalk, where you check your tire pressures, oil life, driving directions, etc, you can set it to show a digital speedo. It's awesome.

As far as not being able to read the regular one properly goes...have you considered glasses?
