Dyno Numbers after TSP Stage 2 Cam
I recently modded my SS/1LE with texas speed 1 7/8 headers, high flow cats, and a TSP Stage 2 LS3 Cam (229/244 .629"/615” 112 LSA, 109 ICL). I am extremely happy with how it came out, the chop is amazing from the cam, driving on the street and at low speeds feels like stock and when you go above 3k rpm its like an entirely different motor, the sound is amazing with the stock NPP. Only question is my overall numbers are 485 whp and 410 torque. I notice some other people with the same set up as me make around mid 450s hp and mid 450s torque. My tuner also explained to me that he said I was spinning on the dyno a bit and as the torque curve starts to go up it drops back down and then stays flat.
If I had to take an educated guess my stock numbers were probably somewhere around 380 whp and 370 torque. The dyno was also done on a mustang dyno and I heard that they rate a bit lower than normal. My question is is my torque a bit low for what I have done or are these completely normal numbers to have? |

That dyno seems pretty generous for a mustang. Those are dyno jet numbers. Either way seems pretty healthy for just a cam and headers.

Horsepower is a little high for mustang dyno but is in the realm of what it should be. It is low on torque some but either way I would think 470rwhp and 430tq would be an average for that cam imo with a stick car.

Also depends on the wheels you have and weather outside. Mine was done on a warm humid day and got 440hp and 405 torq with mods in sig. I’m also auto with factory 20” wheels

Can't compare different dynos even same brand and model.

Agreed with above. I am running a TSP Stage 3 cam in mine, specs in sig, with the LOD manifold and got the same HP numbers as you, but a bit more TQ as my tuner ran the converter locked, and on a dynojet too. But you're in the ball park of what you should see. As we have always said here, dynos are for tuning, don't get hung up on any numbers, they're all different, how the car preform and runs is all that matters. Enjoy that Camaro!!

Read post #12. Your dyno curve looks just like the first one I posted. I had too much timing in too early. The more experienced tuner we took the car to, removed timing down low, then added a little up top. This made the car gain torque and feel more responsive overall, at the cost of a couple ponies up top. I would be curious to see your timing table.

The mustang dyno is dubbed the “heartbreak dyno” not the dyno jet , from what I’ve read dyno jets gives higher ratings than the rest

Yes, as Risingson05 states, the mustang dyno are the "heartbreaker" dynos. Mine was done on a dynojet. My previous dyno tune was done on a Mustang dyno and the numbers were about 10hp and tq less than what I have in my sig. I would take it to another dyno shop and just do a couple pulls to see what you really have. Your tires should NOT be spinning on the dyno drum if they are in good shape and the car strapped down properly. Just doesn't happen with lower HP cars like ours.
