Marvel Mystery Oil?

Anyone use MMO in their engine oil? I am wondering if that would help with the deposits on the valves.

Being as there is no actual oil (only vapor) or even gas hitting the top of the valves in your engine... no amount of additives in the gas or oil will stop that from happening. Run a catch can to lessen the junk getting sucked into the intake, or rely on regular valve cleanings.

Well you answered before I could delete the thread.

I guess I just don't understand the DI motors.

DI is just diesel fuel system tech brought over. It's a mechanical pump and fuel is sprayed directly into the cylinder. The injector sits next to the spark plug I believe.

I actually do run a little MMO in my crankcase. We always had some on hand to keep the lifters in my mother's last Yukon quieter, so I guess it's habit. Supposedly it's just straight ZDPP so it doesn't hurt anything. Seafoam is good for a bandaid valve train cleaning though. Catch can helps.

According to the Blackstone report, there is 634 ppm Phosphorous, but no Zinc in Marvel Mystery Oil.

It's TCP--an ashless anti-wear additive.

I use it every 6 months in the gas, never had an emission related, or vent valve problem.
