ARH Longtubes,Trifecta Tune and MRT V2.0

Well, the longtubes are in. The performance effect of that upgrade is incredible, I can feel the power at all RPM ranges. I haven't put the car on the dyno yet, waiting for the tune and MRT exhaust to be installed first.

Now speaking of the exhaust install, trying to do that is bananas. The MRT is made to fit the V6 stock pipes, that are 2.25", totally missed that when I was planning this. So for now, we have the stock SS mufflers on that the shop had from a previous car that had stopped by. These mufflers fit perfectly, but holy crap the drone is horrendous.

I still want to try putting the MRT exhaust on, so the shop and I are thinkin maybe we can cut off some of the reducers on the muffler down to the 2.5" section and still fir the MRT.

What do you guys think?

So what's your complete LT headers back exhaust? Do you have high-flow cats, X-pipe, resonators, 2.5" pipe and SS mufflers?

I'm assuming the MRT's are more free-flowing than the SS mufflers -- especially if they came off an L99/auto -- so my guess is that the drone is only going to get worse...

Yep that's the setup. The thing is the MRT's are made for the v6, so they should be muffled more than the stock SS mufflers right?

Which MRT's? V2 should sound decent, I would think. They are a resonated straight pipe muffler, might knock down some of the drone. If nothing else, the Magnaflow resonated x-pipe would help.

Yea I have the MRT v2s. Just need to put them on yet.

A word of warning to whoever buys the ARH Longtube package AND are planning on buying a 3rd party axle back exhaust. The mid-pipes are NOT long enough after the cats. I was well short and got lucky that the shop had 2.5 inch pipes from a stock SS system to make up for the short fall.

Quick update, spoke with Scott @ MRT last night and he thinks its a good idea to cut the reducers and fit the mufflers on the 2.5" piping. He believes that the sound will be deeper and the tone will be more balanced as opposed to the SS mufflers.

I feel a little better now, since I have spoken with the guy who actually designs and builds these mufflers. Getting the work done Friday morning. I will keep you guys updated!

You know what? NOPE!! We are all still amazed about that.....LOL. I have been driving with the LTs, new CATs and SS mufflers w/o a tune since Friday and no issues whatsoever with a check engine light. But now that I say it, I will probably get one soon. LOL.

Ok Video time!! This is the video of the incomplete setup i.e. with the SS Stock exhausts.

I made this very hastily. The first part is reving, then normal acceleration, then you will hear my car faintly in the distance, then hard take off, and hard take off on the way back. I didn't have much room, so on the return trips I had to take off before I hit the crest of the hill.

Thanks man! Its funny because this was a total accident as I described in the first post. The SS muffler setup would be great if this was a track car, but for a DD its a little too much. I didn't get a chance to record inside audio tonight, I may try tomorrow night.

With the shitty speakers on my laptop it sounds like my International Tractor....

The question I have for you is did you keep the X Pipe in the loop on this exhaust? I really think this is the key for this V6. I am so interested in doing headers. Really want this car to be just a little special for me.

Yep X-pipe is from ARH. Their x-pipe isn't resonated thought, keep that in mind.

Ok..........ITS FINALLY DONE!

Believe me gentlemen, it was worth the wait, sound and performance! The drone is smoothed out 10x over and the exhaust actually louder on WOT than the stock SS. I have pictures, but I need to take a video yet too, tried to take one with the Iphone, but ehhh. Give me a couple days, I gotta move and a bachelor party tomorrow.

This exhaust is amazing!!
