In perspective, the Laguna Seca is just as "track oriented" and it comes in at less that 50K! Oh wait, and it has a purpose built engine for it just for that car!! I will never own a Ford, I have always had the Chevrolet Passion but dammit I feel like I have been kicked in the balls then given an ice pack then kicked again repeatedly..you get the point.

At 59,990 GM will sell everyone they want to make, even at 64,995 they will.
ha ha ha ha CRYING??? I own a Tahoe!! I bought it for the comfort and assuredness of safety for my kids for around town and for trips!! You can not even compare the two! I knew it had all the bells and whistles and I paid for it...it was and is every penny worth what I spent on it. It doesn't just sit in the garage.

"The 1969 Chevrolet Z28 Camaro remains one of Americas most desirable Muscle Cars of all. With just $458 added to the base price of $2,726 of a Camaro coupe, the Z28 included twin rally stripes, quicker steering and the F41 handling suspension with E70x15 raised-letter tires on seven-inch wide rims."

just saying........

They even said in the presentation this car is not for everyone. You want the amenities? Buy a SS 1LE or ZL1. I don't see what the problem is unless you just like the Z28 badge.

Yep. And at $458 with inflation that's what? $5000 today? Yet somehow Chevy wants to make sure it's 95% cork sniffers buying these up when it wasn't the cork sniffers asking for it to be produced.

It's not for everyone because of the PRICE! Make it 45k and I assure you, SS camaros would be sitting on the lots for yrs to come. It doesn't matter about amenities. You don't buy a camaro for amenities. You buy it for its performance. GM doesn't want 3 million race cars on the road today. Otherwise they'd have given it to the very ppl that asked for it. Right?

Still.... You're getting more car there than buying a Z are you not? You're getting 662HP plus amenities. I understand it'll beat out a GT500 on a track. No doubt there, but the price they'll ask for it won't compensate what you actually get is what I'm getting at. I'm thrilled they brought it out! But they failed to give it to those that asked for it. That's the problem. Spending 65+k on a performance car so you can just say you have one? That's GMs intent. Only intent with this.

For a DD, yes..the GT500 will beat the Z/28 on the street/strip where 99% of us live. The track? Hell no..but then again who goes to a track?? GM's HALO car...that is it.

Honestly, that's a generalization in a different aspect. In 2013, people do care about HIDs, navigation, full color touchscreens, bluetooth, stereos, AC, etc. GM has a Camaro for everyone now. You aren't getting this for 45K, just read the feature list again. It is my opinion that this is a halo car built and tuned for the track to build the performance brand. Low volume.

What exactly is so special and unique (and pricey) about the new Z/28 suspension? It does not have mag ride right?

I hear ya, Mike and wish I had a better explanation...All I can say is long-gone are the days of how they built and priced the first gens...and "options" like back then are a buried relic...I wish it wasn't that way myself...but, unfortunately it is...True, they mention the '67 as the heritage of this car, but the technology needed to make it the top-dog, as it was then, is almost unfathomable compared to then...

...If they weren't going to make it surpass the ZL-1 at the track, that would have probably killed car, and it wouldn't have been built at all...
...Yeah, I'm disappointed as well it's not considered more of a street car, but the Camaro line is already saturated with those...
