exhaust cutouts Vs. Diverters
As the title states, which is better for performance? traditional exhaust cutouts "dumps" or exhaust diverters like the NoWeeds setup?
One argument I hear is that fluid dynamics states the exhaust gas will always flow out of the path of least resistance, thus traditional exhaust cutouts will perform as well as exhaust diverters, which force the exhaust gases out of the supposed lower restriction path.

I look at cutouts as an exhaust leak with a cap, so with it open exhaust is still gonna route through the system as well as the cutout.
The diverters block the flow from the system and reroute it a different direction, which would most likely be dumped. Without actually testing infront of me, I would assume the diverters would make more power, but I doubt it would be a huge difference. |

well, one thing with cutouts is that when they are open, the exhaust is mainly flowing out of the cutout while some is still flowing thru the rest of the exhaust.
with a diverter, all of the exhaust is now dumping earlier in the stream. now depending on the layout, a diverter can be better as it is allowing all of the exhaust gas to dump out at one point. but it can also cause a slight restriction based on the tubing setup. both are great, both have their own sound (which is a big decision for getting one over the other). as for which is better, whichever you want to be.
