REMINDER - Engine Cleaning - Strut Caps

Hey Guys,

It was a beautiful morning so I decided to get the engine bay a good spring cleaning. Prep work and a good wash (see JunkMan's engine cleaning video) -

But when I was blowing the water out of the engine bay, I accidentally blew off my plastic strut cap!!! I thought I have everything done, covered the airbox, fusebox, alt ... light water pressure! Everything was great.

I spent 2 hours looking for the cap, its GONE!! like a freaking sock in the dryer. It has magically disappeared.

My pain, your gain .. Reminder to remove the caps when detailing the engine bay if you plan on using air to blow out the water!!

/cry

If anyone has a cool DYI cap replacement, send me an email absolutemayhem(a)gmail.com. I will have to look for a replacement. Shitty part is the its only 2 weeks from the local Camaro5 meet and I am going to feel like my zipper is down with that missing cap!!!

Also if anyone has an links to replacement caps, please post them. Metal, plastic or chrome.

Btw - I'm in Ontario, Canada if anyone has any Canadian vendors!

Thanks

That sucks, run over to the vender section there are a bunch of places to buy billet strut covers.

My only question is why you are posting a engine cleaning video of a car that isn't a camaro, I mean this is a Camaro forum. Lol

Junkman posts on C5, even though he drives a Vette. He gets a pass. Lots of Junkman's videos are in the detailing forms here.

Sorry that was over my head and under my feet. I have been in house hunting mode for the last 4 months while the car was stored away for the winter!

Hey AbsoluteMayheM, I may have to solution. Google GM Part Department. The site looks like this Name: uploadfromtaptalk1428210055812.jpg
Views: 723
Size: 99.0 KB. Once you have entered the year of your camaro follow thru to body components. Then front suspension. The part you are looking for is number 16. It's not on the diagram but I'm 99.9 % positive it's the correct one.Name: uploadfromtaptalk1428210294687.jpg

I have one if you need it. I have air ride now and added strut covers so no need for it. Just let me know and you can have it. I also need to go downstairs and make sure I do 100% have it since I just cleaned the garage.

If you take out the wheel splash shields (wheel wells), I bet you'll find them ;o)
