Matte Black Rims fading? *Pics*

So I've had the wheels for a few months now (around 6 months), and they are supposed to be matte black Forgestar F-14s. The color seems to be fading, it almost looks grey and nothing like matte black.
After a wash they look ok but then a few days later it turns like this again.

What's going on? Why is this happening?

Are you using wheel cleaners? Wheel cleaners sometimes have too much acidic chemicals that can lead to the finish fading on any set of wheels no matter if they're painted or powdercoated, that could be the case here, because I learned the hard way on a set of matte black wheels as well, and they started doing the same thing when I had used wheel cleaners.

yep looks like severe wheel cleaner damage, notice the runs along the middle? you cant use harsh cleaners on the rims. you cant let harsh wheel cleaners or tire cleaners get on your rim, if they do you need to wash immediatly.

I'm not using wheel cleaners but my local car wash puts dressing on my tires. I don't think it really touches the wheel

There are some obvious streaks where something has ran down them.

you work at a construction site or anything? anything you might be running through that might splash chemicals up? Gas will do that as well, so if you run through areas with gas or something on te road alot, or made anyone mad at you that might of sprayed something on there?

from the faded runs, it looks like something on the wheel while it was rolling. Did you buy them used? possible the previous owner had them damaged and doctored them for sale or something

(even your lugnuts have been faded by whatever it was)

I would go ahead and repaint them or plastidip....not as good as original and youll have to spot chips occasionally but they will look good enough.

Agreed with everyone else with some sort of chemical damage. I used to have matte black rockstars and I would put some Adams VRT on them. Still kept them matte looking but just a little bit of shine, might try that as a temporary fix.

And its way beyond dressing on the tires, whatever caused that was more than a little bit of something. enough to cause beading and runs.

Ok, I'm quite angry now. The wheels costed me $1,800 plus $100 for installation so we're looking at almost $2,000 for the total cost of buying the wheels, mounting them, etc.

Should I let the carwash know? Can I take legal action for them damaging my wheels?

I know for my car wash at least they don't take liability for any damages or stolen goods. If they don't have a sign like that posted, then I would certainly bring it up with them.
