"Sticky" is a relative term. For the street, street or track?

Since you are in IA and first said street: I went w/ DSW06's and love 'em. G Force Comp's 2 are good as well. DR's are different altogether.

Wider is better for drag, not so good on track.

I would partially agree with this but I feel there is a more complete answer to question haha. Sorry if I am stepping on your toes.

If you are keeping the same aspect ratio (second number) the 315 will also be taller. 315/35r-20 means the side wall is 35% the size of the tread face. So, 110.25MM. 305/35r-20 would be 106.75mm. As minute as that sounds haha.

I do agree about the 315 better drag, 305 better track. The smaller the sidewall in track the stiffer the sidewall and the wider the footprint and less roll from the sidewall in turns. It will help you carry more speed into turns. Though the 315's still have a small sidewall, there is the smallest bit more of sidewall that can, for lack of a better term, flex under heavy acceleration and elongate the foot print to get better launches. But, from a guy that sold tires for way too damn many years, the 3.5mm diff in sidewall height will not make enough of a noticeable difference. Go with the tire design you feel best about putting on as long as it is one of the 2 sizes you are looking at. Speed ratings change in sizing on some tires. Most tread designs will not be available in both sizes.

I run 315/35r-20 r888 (original directional tread design) and I do like them. But, I have 4000 miles on them and they are half worn. Drag radials are not built for longevity, obviously haha. I was expecting 8k to 9k miles on them. Far superior traction to the OG goodyears, though. Read alot of great thing about the MPSS for daily, also.

Im running 315 nitto motivos on the rear and g-force comp 2 on the front, its my daily, rain, shine, freezing, 100+ and i love it. when cornering hard at about 1 g you can slip a little in cold weather but for the price and the 60k mile warranty the motivos are hard to beat

I’m
Really looking at the Toyo r888r. I want a tire that I can get excellent straight acceleration Fromm a dead stop and still take corners with lots of confidence. I only put 2-3000 miles a year on the car so hopefully a set will let me a couple of seasons.

As far as Michelin. Is the pilot super sport the best out there? Given what I want to accomplish?

I haven't experienced the MPSS so I can't tell you that. But, I used to sell Toyo, hence the r888. Toyo's steal belting goes 100% across the tread face which causes the tire to lay flatter across the tread face with less crowning. They also use a sidewall filler which gives it a stiffer sidewall than most tires. I chose Toyo because I know the product. I run them on all 3 of my rigs. I will more than likely be getting the r888r my next round since my fronts are Toyo and I am weird about mismatching brands.

NT01 Nittos are similar to the r888rs — I believe they are very similar rubber and road course focused. 555s (not the Nitto 555r ll’s if still available) are more drag focused like the NT05s...

I’ve read the toyos are super loud. Not that it really matters I guess but something to consider.

The original R888's are terrible for road noise...like I can hear it over the dual 3" straight piped exhaust on my ls3 chevelle lol. Great tires though. I have heard the new R888R are quieter but who knows?

Wow the toyos r888r are over 1700 delivered. Yikes. Sadly I think that’s the tire to buy. They also come in stock size. I don’t like the look of the beefier tires so I will probably stick with stock sizing.
