Clicking when applying brakes
Hey all,
I just did a bunch of work on my '13 Ls including but not limited to replacing the diff, new wheel hubs (two bad bearings in the back), new pads and resurfaced rotors. This was probably two weeks ago, and since then I've noticed a clicking noise coming from the rear end when I pop the clutch and step on the brake. There doesn't seem to be any difference based on what speed, but it is noticeably louder when I apply the brake more. I don't notice any other strange noises from the rear end (which is great because the previous diff was giving me hell). The noise also differs in volume seemingly dependent on the day? Even with approximately the same conditions (driving about 30 miles at highway speed ~90 degrees outside with gallons of humidity) it will make louder or quieter noises depending on how she feels. Anyone experienced anything like this, or have any idea what I should be looking for? |

Is it a single click when applying the brakes? If so it may just be the pads moving in the calipers.

Check the brake mount bolts. Mine turned up loose on the passenger side.

What're you torquing yours to? I torqued all the shoes to 75ft*lbs and the calipers to 30 ft*lbs

Did you figure out what was causing this noise?

On the SS there is a single star headed screw that holds the rotor on for assembly. I could imagine that being loose and clicking as the wheel spins. You probably just need to take things off and have another look around.

The torx bolt only holds the rotor on until the wheel is in place, then the lug nuts will hold it in place.
