Apparently, you can add CarPlay/Android Auto to Mylink

So I was researching ways to add a backup camera to my 2014 Camaro and I came across a module that takes over the Mylink screen and displays CarPlay or Android Auto. It looks pretty cool! Does anyone have any experience with this? I'd jump on this, but I'm broke :(

Interesting, but at that price... Might as well get an aftermarket unit.

It is rather pricey. I've found a few Asian vendors that sell similar boxes, so I think this could be had for cheaper. I just can't find the specific box for the Camaro. The box in this link looks like the one Gm-Navigation (MVI) is using but it states it's for a Ford: https://www.dhgate.com/product/car-a...403586983.html

I found a similar product that others have posted on the forum:
https://indiworkshop.com/shop/all-in...for-chevrolet/
But this would require two boxes to accomplish the same thing.

pretty neat for an OEM-like solution, but i agree hopefully Gen5DIY can get a kit together for less too.

asked gen5. got this

"Hi ------ this is not something we have played around as of yet. I do know that it consists of an aftermarket module and extra wiring that must be added in to the mylink."

I'd love to figure out what Aftermarket Module that is. I've found some searching but none that lists compatibility with 5th Gen Camaros.

That is super spendy, but I do like the fact that I can retain the OEM head unit and bezel

Actually, I don't think the pricing is that bad. It's about the same as buying a new head unit and installation kit. Plus I think all the current Dash kits are ugly. Why does the head unit have to be recessed into the dash?

True. I am currently researching this and may pull the trigger

I was like you - I really wanted the factory look so I actually did a cost comparison and it really wasn’t close after all the necessary programming and harnesses. Plus I have a 2011 and I’d have to redo the door lock. The kit and HU I bought was right at $600, with the added benefit of CarPlay. If I recall, the MyLink starts around $1000, not including the miscellaneous stuff.

Yeah I would agree, if you don't already have a MyLink, a new HU would be cheaper. I have the MyLink (w/o nav or back up) so in either case I'm looking at $600 for a new HU or this upgrade.
