ZL1 spoiler, if it has the factory ZL1 pegs, etc., will use 4 of the 7 holes you have in your trunklid. You will need to plug the 3 right in the gap under the 3rd brakelight, or fill and repaint the trunklid to make them disappear.

When I did mine on the 2010, I bought the entire ZL1 trunklid/spoiler when someone was modifying their ZL1, so I didn't have to fill anything. But I did have to deal with vinyl stripes to match the hood. With the Transformers cars, they used one-off satin black stripes, so I had to buy two sets of non-spoiler Transformers trunklid stripes to get the right length of ends of the stripe to match the part that ran under the spoiler on the decklid. PITA actually. But I have no extra holes to worry about.

I think it makes the coupes look a lot better. Here's ours when I did the spoiler install over 10 years ago.

With existing non-ZL1 spoiler holes, this is what you're up against.

Some people plug them and paint the top of the plugs to match body color to save the cost of filling holes, and repainting the decklid. Almost can't see them, but they're there.

It works out then. Just check for white color shade matching. You'll note that the white isn't always pure white.

Does your new spoiler come with a template for drilling holes? You got to make sure it's straight and sitting in the right position or it'll look like ass.

You may have to make a template if you have to. That's a whole new ballgame there.

The ZL1 spoiler is what they used on the 2015 Commemorative Edition. I definitely like the look of it on mine.

I would take the spoiler off your existing deck lid and get a large sheet of construction paper or similar and create my own template for those holes you will need then just transfer them to the deck lid with no holes. It won’t be that hard to do. I have the template that came with my GM dovetail still that would loctate the holes you need but unfortunately im holding on to it as I may want to do another one in the future and would need it. But if you could find someone else with that template it would do exactly what you need. I think it has measurements for the holes on it, I can check and post pictures if it does but it won’t be till Monday.

Why not use both? Use the tape to hold it in place while you secure it with the bolts?

That’s exactly how the factory did it.

Wada Ya Mean Wada Ya Mean

Why not use both? Use the tape to hold it in place while you secure it with the bolts.

Despite the simplistic answer to that I will say this. No other template will fit an individually designed spoiler. I do agree that I do not want this to become a torpedo

through my rearview or into someone else's. So I will break out the Dykem and make a template for it. The tape will serve as a sealer around all areas of the holes and I still have to figure where to ty in the new break light. Diagram of that?

If this does not work there is always that squealy Kid from Junk For Joy
