2016 SS
Wanted a ZL-1 but after looking at a 2014 Z-1-1 vs a 2016 SS the differences were not that great. ,
Magnetic ride control, driver sensor control land brembo brakes are now available The SS is a Certified SS with 2K miles and is located 4 hours away. Car was traded for a Corvette that never driven in inclement weather and is within my budget. White w/khalahari trim and top. |

Just chiming in as someone that spent money making an SS my higher horsepower dream car - the amount of money I spent on my 2015 SS, if spent on a stock ZL1, would have made for one bad ass ZL1 lol. If horsepower matters to you and you plan on spending mod money down the road, your money will get some cool shit done on a ZL1. Unless staying NA matters to you like it did to me, then by all means SS it up

I like this debate. Stock for stock they are pretty close at the track. The ZL1 is marginally quicker with it's 100+HP advantage. Adding power to an LSA ZL1 might be one of the easiest things to do. A pulley and a tune and you're making some big power. The new SS is about 400-500lbs lighter though and some people want that fresh styling. Either way you win, they are both great cars.

you mean a CAI? well, that will not get you to 475. the 16's will have about 400 rwhp. you will need more than a CAI to get to 475 at the wheels.

Have you driven both yet?
You mention modding the LT1 for more power already. If you start down that rabbit hole, the LSA will give you much better bang for buck power returns. This was a factor in my decision as well. As ZL1's have already taken a big depreciation hit and should hold steady in the 30k range (based on older LSA CTS-V values). While the Gen 6 SS's haven't hit that severe 3-5 year depreciation value drop yet.

Get the 16', start saving for the LT1 Whipple blower. They are making some serious power with that combo!
