Whipple IAT Relocation
Hey all, any advice on this? Is it worth doing. I noticed it at this link:
http://www.gettorq.com/store/index.p...ercharger.html Are other companies selling this? Thanks all. |

Looks like that option isn`t available yet. It is a good idea to be able to read the charge after the intercooler, but at our power level and the size of the intercooler, we should be fine. I don`t know of any Whippled cars blown up "yet"..

The way I see it, in the event that something went wrong with the cooling system, having the engine "see" a spike in the IAT would allow the car to pull timing and start dumping fuel in an attempt to save itself. Considering the cost of the blower and the cost of moving the sensor, it made a lot of sense to me. That being said, I took a 2 hour trip this weekend with a mix of highway and stoplight to stoplight driving and when I stopped I popped the hood and felt the supercharger.... it was not even what I would consider warm. |

Huh, did they drill into the valley cover or the side of the whipple to mount that?

Below is the picture of the modification that we did to relocate the IAT:
You can see it in the rear portion of the manifold. This is exactly the same thing we do on ALL whipple installs we perform regardless of make/model. Really, its the only safe way to do it. |

Soooo, very lazy question here. I'm guessing I'd have to remove the supercharger to complete this mod huh? I still have nightmares about tightening some of those bolts.... Also interested in the price/instructions. My tuner mentioned this when he first tuned the car. He pulled some of the timing to be safe but mentioned I'm leaving safe power on the table because of it.

I fitted my Whipple SC a couple of weekends ago. It came with the IAT fitted in the back of the supercharger with an extension lead to connect it to the two wires that are removed from the MAF plug.

Whipple has a relocation kit now, I'm thinking about getting it, I wanted to instal a meth kit and wanted to have a true manifold reading. Also the new whipples for the camaro are now using a post blower iat sensor
