I've been using Mobil 1 in all my vehicles for many years. About 3 years ago my wife got home in her 3.1 V6 Buick on a hot 100 degree day. I was outside working in the yard and I could smell the car from where I was. The radiator petcock valve failed on her way home and dumped all the coolant out. Radiator was dry. The temp gauge was pegged and the red warning light on. She was driving with the A/C on light nothing was wrong. I fixed the valve filled the system with new coolant. Car has about 136K miles on it now and it's still running good. My 5.3 Silverado has 224K on it and shows no signs of slowing down. I use the Extended Performance Mobil 1 in my Camaro with ACDelco filter. Works for me.

I replace all of my fluids with AMSOIL and use their filter as well.

I been running the mobile 1 also and haven't had an issue. I have a heavily cammed car. Not a race car but a weekend driver, the odd time to the strip... Drag strip I mean.. Kinda lmao.
I'm surprised no one has said anything about the royal purple. Maybe that's better for boosted motors? Guys in the cobalt forum with 400-500whp use that as I have heard. Must be good right?

The best I found through research is driven racing ls30, and for breaking in ...br30.

Oh and a comparison for you: from amsoil: about off the shelf 5-30 ...and which suck harder.... http://www.amsoil.com/lit/g3115.pdf and done independently which does seem to make some mobil one fans butt hurt...... you see it comes in dead last for wear and about that for engine deposits.... Not that I use amsoil, I do not believe in just changing oil every ten thousand miles but its pretty good, I order in oil with the best sheer to not make the roller not roll but drag a cam to death, and with a lot of ZDDP for the stuff they take out of mainstream oils now..

..and if your in the know they are going to do reformulations of oil again in 2017 same time CAFE standards hit....and then there are supposed to be two major types of oil, one that's ok for your car and one you don't want to touch, and then there will be the specialty oils which buck the old hot rod engine running low zddp crap that it has become.

Read some bulletins and testimonials at driven racing, they are the bomb and the one oil that places insist you use....as in its double break in of a engine .....oil is included in the price of any new engine you get from Texas Speed and Performance, 16 qts of br30. Not that haters will not hate me for saying this but hey its made for our engines, not just any engine and its recommended by god and every maker of parts you can imagine.....
If you knew half as much as you think you do, you wouldn't be nearly as dumb as you sound.

On topic - I've used Pennzoil Platinum the last two changes with an ACDelco filter as it's been the cheapest and most convenient spec'd synthetic to get ahold of. Used Royal Purple before and Mobil 1 as well. It's all good oil.

Just used Mobil 1 Full Syn 5w30 and a Mobil 1 Ext Performance Filter. Lots of good oils out there. Changing it on time is the key.

Royal Purple 5w-30 going in Friday for my first oil change (Will be about 700 miles). Usually do my first at 1000, but going on a short road trip that will pack on about 700 miles this weekend.

Also going with RP filter. Used to be die hard M1 until I switched to RP in my old Hemi truck which removed most of the tick that those engines have. RP filters are MUCH better than the M1 as well. M1 is a bit cheaper but @ $71 for a complete RP change w/ 8 quarts, its not really too bad.

Amsoil for engine oil. RP for the other stuff. No expert but the car likes the RP in the trans and diff. Butt dyno confirms.
