Leather seat wear...

Has anyone seen this kind of seat wear on their leather? I've done some searching and saw some issues with the seats, but nothing like this. I took it to the dealer this morning, let him have a look and do some research so we can setup an appointment to get this fixed.

Yeah.. my wife's last car (an Impala built in Oshawa as well) went 4 years with leather seats.. we never had anything like this.

Did you scratch it? Were you wearing jeans that had something attached to the belt? That just doesn't seem right at all. They run vigorous tests on the upholstery to make sure that they can withstand people getting in and out thousands upon thousands of times. No way it should have done that.

Nothing that I am aware of. I work in IT so I'm generally wearing khakis.. no tool pouches or anything on the belt, ever.

There is a thread on here about issues with the seating surface, Engineering is apparently gathering information and dealing with it on a case by case basis.

I agree though, this definitely shouldn't be like this.

not to be picky, but where the damage is in your picture, it is vinyl and not leather....only where your butt and back touch the seat is where the leather is. looks like you are sliding into your seat and your clothes or what is in your clothes is scraping it (wallet, belt, coins, snaps, etc.)

you need to change the way you get in and out of the seat and problem solved

+1 jeans will kill vinyl. We have 20k miles on my custom leather and they look brand new..

That part looks like leather to me. Vinyl wouldn't wear or wrinkle like that. Regardless, the same cheap azz leather is used in the 2010 as they used in the 2002s. And the way you have to drop into the seat, I can't see much of a way to avoid how you get in the seat without rubbing that bolster a bit. But leather should hold up just a tad better than that. Probably get their leather where they get the paint!

I have the same mark but its from being careless and throwing something with sharp corners in my passenger seat. It's normal wear and tear.

Is my 45th anniversary under warranty for a new seat if its stitching is coming apart? I bought my car used with 14k miles on it. When is my car not under warranty if I want the seats repaired? I take really good care of the car too
