Lowered Z28~
I just picked up a “15 Z28 and was looking into upgrade potentials. Has anyone placed lowering springs on their Z?
If so, pictures and or dropped by how much? |

Seen a few lowered slightly on proper expensive race coilovers.
Not seen any dropped on springs on the Multimatic DSSV Dampers. Probably because unless you had a set of Z/28-spec springs custom wound it would be a handling downgrade! I'm looking into a way of lowering mine a few mm at the front, but it means modifying the strut, so it won't be for everyone! |

With a 3" exhaust on mine I don't think I could possibly be any lower without hitting everything on the road.

A member here on the forums, aris, has installed the Detroit Speed Kit 1 on his Z/28. Search for him, he has some info within some posts. I have the Z suspension on my ‘14 1LE and I use 19” wheels for the track. I wish I could lower it and not lose any performance. I actually ran a set of BMR 1” drop springs with the DSSVs 2 years ago. I believe it was a step down, but I did not have the optimum anti roll bar package either. Plus, my track skills have got a lot better since them. A few vendors have sworn the DSE Speed Kit 1 is a great setup on the Z, but I need more proof of the track performance.

Also, the DSSVs have less compression travel (and rebound travel). So reducing travel with drop springs will mean the car is on the bumpstops more. There are many dynamic factors here.

I've never felt the car bottom out on the bump stops on the track, but its entirely possible that it could occur on a bumpy road. Hasn't been an issue for me. It's bizarre to me how controversial running different spring and sway bar rates is, but to each his own. It's an afternoon of work to go back and forth between different springs and sway bars. There are obviously many factors at play, including improvements in my own skill level, but I experienced a net improvement in performance (based on average lap times at Thunderhill's 3 mile course) between the car stock and the car modified with the speed 1 kit and the camber plates. I found the car was a little more predictable and that turn in greatly improved (probably mostly due to the camber plates). We'll see how long I leave the suspension as is. I like experimenting with different setups, so it's more than likely that I'll eventually switch to something else. |

https://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=526292 Also, it looks like the DSE speed kit PN: 033023 would be the one for 14-15 Z/28's, however, aris could have used one of the others I suppose. |

https://www.detroitspeed.com/2010-20...up#tab-reviews Spring rates are similar to stock Z/28, but the sway bars are much larger/heavier duty. I also upgraded the sway bar bushings and brackets that came with the speed 1 kit with delrin bushings and billet brackets. |
