Rear Diff and Engine Oil change
Hey guys. Will be doing a rear Diff and oil change on a 15 LS3. Just wondering if anyone knows the torque śpecs for either. As well, assuming I don't have a torque wrench, what is the best way to estimate it?

You don't estimate a torque wrench setting, you buy a torque wrench.

I have always laughed at people who use their arm as a torque wrench. But the 2 bolts in question hardly need one.

Rear diff drain and fill plug 24 lb ft
Oil pan drain plug 18lb ft You can estimate the oil pan plug by ensuring the wrench is covered in oil and grab it between your thumb and fore finger and push (not pull) till you slip off the wrench and bust your knuckle. If your a little older you may need to use thumb and 2 fingers (maybe 3) The diff is just a wee bit more force than the oil plug. ***Note*** these are for Mobil 1 full synthetic being on the wrench, DEXOS blends may not slip the same resulting in the knuckle being spared from being busted open. See how this sounds? If you are going to start doing DIYs like this just buy a torque wrench.

These 2 bolts don't require a torque wrench. I never torque those bolts to spec.
Hand tight (plus a touch) only, don't use your arm as leverage on the ratchet. Always start the car and check for leaks after. However, do invest in a proper torque wrench if you are rotating your own tires or doing work on the engine.

Yup I just tighten those two bolts down snug, but not overtightened, no need for a torque wrench.
