Thinking about Drag Radials...

Hey guys,
So I found a good deal on some Nitto drag radials and C5 Z06 rims but I was just wondering if I need to upgrade anything else in the drive train such as axles when I do? I have the 2011 Camaro SS with 1-7/8th inch headers and 3.91 differential. Just looking for advice so I don't end up having to pay for the very expensive tow truck drive home from the drag strip!

Axles are always a good idea anytime you add drag radials or slicks. It doesnt take much to break stock axles.
Give us a call if you need a set.

Thanks
Chris

Anything CAN break.. You can upgrade axles, driveshaft, build the trans.. Spend 5k+ plus "just in case" or just fix it if/when something happens.

I'd add the radials and drive it.. I've had radials on my car since I bought it, and just plan to upgrade whatever breaks, as it breaks.

With the auto run the stock axles. I run DR & slicks cutting 1.50 to 1.60 on stock diff with 3.91 gears & stock axles. Lost count after 200 passes on them. Don't wheel hop it.

I probably have around 150 passes on my car, stock axles. I bought some extra stock axles just in case, haven't needed them. I have been running drag radials for a while.

Yeah you auto Guy's got it good, not near as hard on stuff as the M6. I'm on my 3rd diff, a stock one, a modified one and now the 12 bolt Hammerhead from DSS. I twisted the outer splines on the stock axels before I replaced the axels and driveshaft with DSS stuff.

Don't waste your time on the Nitto555R...... They're good for street traction, but there are way better drag radials available. M/T ET Streets for one....

Oh heck yeah. Nailing the throttle from idle will flash the converter quite high due to lack of preload on it. It's kinda like side-stepping a clutch at 4000+ RPM. You WILL break things.

I agree on the Hoosiers for track only. Et Streets if you are going to be driving on the streets with them.

I haven't kept track of how many passes I've made, but it's somewhere between 150-200 on stock axles.
