Looking at buying this zl1 question about oil psi
Hello I'm looking at buying his car in Austin, TX. It's a 2015 zl1 with 9k miles. I looking at some pics of the gauges and it shows the car warmed up and the guage is showing around 23psi. I've been doing lots of reading and I read that someone with around 20 psi of oil pressure resulted in replacing lifters. What do you guys think?

Here is another angle, I live 4 hours away from the cars location so I wanted to get you guys opinion before I head up there. The vehicle looks to be stock from pics.

Mine runs about 30 but I have several mods which includes the better Melling oil pump. Does it still have any warranty left? I drove 8 hours to find mine. Good luck.

I'm sure it still has 2 years left on powertrain. I was definitely about to go buy this car until I saw this lol.

While I do not have a ZL1 my SS will run in that range once it’s good and warmed up, this is at idle of course. I’m sure you will find it in the normal range for the factory pump.

As long as it is between the hash marks either side of center it is within specification.

I just let my car idle for 20min to check it. It's at 29psi idle. With an oil and filter change that car might be up there close. Can't say its ok where it is or not.
I thought the lifter problems were the L99 automatic SS's, not the LSA ZL1's. |

So I called a Chevy dealer about the vehicle and was told that they have been recently switching to 0w20 oil on the newer zl1's. He said the in the earlier models 2013 and lower they where using 5w30 wich would should slightly higher oil pressure. Can anyone confirm this?

I know the lt4 vs lsa, but he was referring to 2014-2015 zl1. I contacted the dealer that did the oil change on this vehicle and he said it was done 12/17, they used Mobil 1 5w30

2012-2015 ZL1's should have all used 5w30 dexos approved oil.

My gauge has always sat there after warm and at idle, comes right up with rpms. This is both at stock and after mods. The gauge is only good for you have pressure or you don’t.

It looks normal. Mine looks similar after about 5 minutes at idle.
