Ebola is deadly but extremely difficult to transmit compare to the common flu.

I don't think they will close the thread unless it gets offensive or people start arguing. I have seen more heated debates on facebook about this topic.

Then some say that Ebola can mutate, the longer it goes. Look at what 1 person has unleashed.

I'm telling you I never research things like this let alone follow it on the news. However, this has had me on youtube for most of the day! I came across these videos from infowars (alex jones guy) and they have some interesting take in all this.

Taking a break from all this because it seems like nothing has happened, but CNN always changes its headlines to make it seem like something is happening

The problem is...it takes some time to develop symptoms. Took 18-21 days from the first day Duncan was in the hospital (and turned away) for symptoms to appear in the nurses. Most likely they got Ebola during his second visit when he was vomiting, etc.

So...We won't really know until around Halloween if this has spread to more people. Hopefully it's contained...

Basically, It can mutate each time it copies itself. That takes time in the host though, and the longer the host has the virus, the more likely it is to develop a mutation. Most mutations are harmless though. I read somewhere that there have been 50 known mutations to the virus in Africa.

Steve, how do you feel about the new Ebola Czar to keep us safe? I pray we have it contained and it just goes away.

Well, why do we need one? Don't we have a Surgeon General that's supposed to do that job? Oh wait...infringing on politics, so I'll leave this one alone.

No, we don't have one. Last nominee pissed off the NRA and the nomination got stuck in the senate.... more politics

Completely isolate a nation or region, and it will implode for sure, making the situation world-wide even worse....

A travel ban, I say not an answer....but travel "restrictions", monitoring, possible quarantine on both ends before and after travel might help stop it's spread....

I'm glad someone is in touch with reality and has a sense of how this situation would actually get worse with a travel ban. Besides, it's cold-hearted and cruel to leave the people suffering from this on their own, which is exactly what a travel ban would do.

As for everyone else, we do not discuss politics. We are not a factionalized forum. Following this post, infractions will be issued.
