BOV sound???

Hey guys quick question. I have a 2014 ss camaro with a single turbo 84mm on3 turbo. I was wondering why I don't hear my BOV open when I rev in neutral? Even at read line, no sound.

There is no load on the engine when the trans is in neutral. The turbo won't make boost without a load therefore, there is no boost being sent to the engine. Since there is no boost, there is no reversion of air back towards the BOV when the throttle body shuts to make the sound.

Thanks for the reply guys. But I still don't get it?? The only difference between neutral and driving is my trans being in gear right? What does that have to do with the engine? On the road at 3000 rpm I'm making boost but from a neutral rev I make nothing?

There is no load in neutral on the engine. These aren't Focus ST's lol.

Load is needed to get exhaust pressure which in turn spins the turbo.

Your not running any air thru the engine in neutral. You may be revving but the throttle body is not open like a wide open pull. You have to have exhaust pressure to spin the turbo (moving a lot of air) cant do it in neutral. Might get some turbo spin but not like a full power pull.

How could I not be running any air thur the engine when I revving in neutral? Wouldn't the engine stall? I was in the parking lot the other day and a guy asked to hear what my car sounded like. I started her up for him. "Rev it up" he yelled. So I did. Then I thought there has to be some kind of turbo spool with all of the exhast that just screamed thru my pipee. Not understanding???

The engine is not doing much work so not moving nearly as much air/fuel through at the same rpm.

First Image (left) is Full Throttle with the clutch in - (motor is UNLOADED)

Second Image (right) is Full Throttle, clutch engage - (motor is LOADED)

See the big difference in the MAF Cyl Air (g) and MAF (Mass AirFlow) sensor reading differences.

UNLOADED you're not going to get the turbos to spool (also see the orange Boost numbers - kinda speaks for itself [0.6psi boost UNLOADED versus 14.7psi boost LOADED). No boost in the charge pipe (intake) when the throttle goes shut (no need for the BOV to release pressure so it doesn't open); a lot of boost in the pipe when the throttle goes shut (big WHOOSH because the BOV is releasing boost from the charge pipe).
