Buying between minor updates is one thing, but when there is a full overhaul on the horizon I think it's a waste to buy. Buy one now and in 2 years you'll be seeing the nicer, lighter, more powerful, better handling version in your neighbor's driveway.
Might as well never buy anything then.

I picked up the C6 GS because it's the outgoing platform. Most all bugs have been worked out, they're coming way down on prices and even when C7 is here, C6 will still be relevant.

Besides, I just had 1 too many failures with my Camaro and for what I paid for all the parts and labor in the car, I simply couldn't deal with it any longer. But, that's just what worked for me and I long wanted a two seater, my GF and I have no kids and no plans for them, etc.

I personally prefer the GT500 over the ZL1, but that's just me. I know several people locally (not taking in to account people I've never met) that are quite happy with their ZL1 and would be very slow to give it up, if ever.

Considering that both cars are capable of exceeding the traffic laws in pretty much all parts of the US, it really comes down to what you want to do with the car and which one you prefer.
Ya it makes sense, i am trying to get a car that i would be happy with for 3 to 5 years. something that would stay in style and keep up with all the new cars coming to the market in the next year or so. The gt500 with all that power seems like the way to go. I pefer a vette over a mustang though. I will have to see how c7 looks, before i do anything with a vette.

Used Z06s are pretty much the bargain of the century if you ask me.

Everything but the connecting rods are forged.

Buyers of 2008 gt500s saw a few upgrades to the car in 2010. Buyers of 2010 gt500s saw a few upgrades to the car in 2012. Buyers of the 2014 gt500 will see a completely new car in two years.

A stock GT500 will beat a stock ZL1 in a straight line, auto or manual. The road course belongs to the ZL1.

A 2010 GT500 was a Huge update over the 2008 GT500. It had a complete styling change, much improved handling package, upgraded interior, much better motor package and a host of other improvements.

Actually of all the tests the ZL1 NEVER blew out the GT500 on the roadcourse and in fact the split of wins seems around 50/50, so the GT500 definitely has the drag course down, but the ZL1 is not a kill all on the roadcourse, though it does very well and certainly has it's advantages.

Facts: ZL1 stock is 9PSI. GT500 stock is 15PSI.

I say bump the ZL1 up to 15 psi and lets see if she can hang....

Can we create a new Camaro vs subforum and just stick all the Mustang threads in that one so it can be rehashed separately millions of times?

I guess we should make a 6.2l modular motor for the mustang then?

you would first have to give the ZL1 the forged internals the GT500 has to safely handle the extra boost
