From what I understand, the battery in the trunk was in part a weight distribution issue. I am wondering if the OEM suitcase mufflers included some kind of ballast? I think I lost about 50lbs when I swapped out mine...

I was exaggerating about the Tesla, don't get your panties in a bunch. I want cutouts as much as the next guy, but there's one slight problem, they aren't exactly legal unless you know someone. The dual mode NPP is the next best thing, and a masterpiece at that. Not really sure what was going through the mind of the guy that okay'd those original suitcase abominations.

Although it's cheap and easy to install, the inner tube exhaust system doesn't do anything to quieten the exhaust down.

Tagged as an example of the C5 wisdom, "begin modifying exhaust at the engine, then work your way back".

Maybe I should reiterate---The OP has a muffler delete, Like I had and I wasnt pleased sounding like a cement mixer (Like he obviously doesnt either)
I just concurred with the setup he's looking at.
Obnoxiously LOUD and nicely toned are 2 different preferences.

Anything is going to "help", how much is the issue.
Yes, the exhaust shown will help, but the H Pipe will still make it sound like crap.
One reason for the huge cans is to kill that nasty rasp.
True X Pipe helps in a lot of other ways as well.

I have the SW Retro Catback with the X pipe which is basically a mildly baffled straight pipe all the way back.
I love the sound.

If you're getting a good deal on the exhaust, you can't go wrong and you can't make it sound any worse, only better..

We second this recommendation. One of our 5x8" sizes will work well for you. We wouldn't rely on the mufflers in that catback to do much for the volume level.

Why do you say the H-Pipe will make it sound like crap? Most say the h-pipe is deeper and has a more muscle car sound while the x-pipe is more high pitched/exotic sound. Anyways I don't really think the 2 differ that much.
