This car is severely traction limited which is why using the best combination of burn-out, tire pressure, and launch technique is important.

I would be willing to bet that these same procedures would work with the manuals and we would probably start seeing them run in the 11s stock.
Thanks for the detailed reply.. again great run!

If "many people" could duplicate big dave's times, they would be doing it. Obviously, you haven't been to the track to see how difficult it is to make these cars hook on the stock Goodyears. He is a mentor(trusted adviser)...what's the big deal? Yes, I am the "one guy", but there was no need for such a sarcastic comment. I just wanted to give you some insight.

Don't assume anything when you know nothing about me, if I track my car or do not. My question was not for you. It was for the poster who had no problem with my question. It is you who took offense to it. So yes there is always that ''one guy'', which appears to be you. All I can say is thank God for the ignore feature this site offers.

Forum etiquette should dictate how a post is made. I felt like your initial post was not giving the OP proper respect. Your second statement on your initial post was not necessary. You should have stopped after you stated that, "Computer shifts for ya, no?" I am the "one guy" to call you out on an unnecessary statement and that is it. Please don't take this the wrong way.

Great stuff Dave! I have only been drag racing a couple years and I figured out that no matter what tire you are using, it won't hurt your 60 ft to smoke the tires a little longer in the burnout box.

And I always get a chuckle when people say how hard can it be to pin the throttle and count to 10 or 11 or whatever. I never matched big daves time running stock tires even though I had 800+ whp. That is an impressive run. You have got it together.

1.68 60ft is better than some people can do on drag radials. Impressive as heck if you ask me. Most can't crack 2.0 on stock tires. My old GTO would do 1.55's on Hoosier drag radials and that was with a 5200rpm stall leaving off idle. Only 420rwhp and did 11.50's in 2000ft DA. Not bad for 4000lb raceweight.

Thanks alot for the replies fellas. I'm only trying to share my experiences and, hopefully, help you guys along in the process the way someone else helped me. I understand very few of us actually race our cars, but for those who do, you'll find that every little detail you pay attention to will help you in extracting the most out of your cars.

Dave's runs have motivated me to spend time trying to master my car 100% stock before moving ahead with mods. Two trips to the track with my manual and I couldn't get my 60' below 2s. Being fast stock is as cool as 10s with mods. It now seems like a waste to rush past that phase.

Good stuff Dave! How many passes have you made on the first tires?

Good luck to you, I believe in trying to extract every last ounce before modding. If mine was a manual, my goal would be trying to be the first in the 11s stock. I haven't seen anywhere where someone has done it. I'm still on my original tires, I'm sure I have well over 100 passes...could be 200
