So my back fire was a bad brand new MSD coil which summit replaced no questions asked. My question is has anyone else had a problem with MSD coils? Reason I ask is one of the others is dropping out from time to time but they all test good hot or cold.

Valuable lesson learned. Just because a part is new is no guarantee it’s good. True with any parts.

I have heard of issues with the MSD coils but this was a while ago. I thought they had it worked out a few years back. Are these the red coils?

I have heard of this issue with the MSD's, so I went with Accell when I replaced mine, 2 years and no issues yet.

I got them from Summit Racing, they were the same price as the stockers, but got them on a Black Friday sale for 274 bucks, shipped!!! And yes so far no issues to date. I wanted them, yellow so the red would get "lost" in my under hood theme, plus the issues I read about on the MSD's... Benn on the car for 3 yrs now...

As I mentioned above, I was looking for something to go with my under hood theme, and the Accel's were the same price as the stockers, but got 100 bucks off them on a Black Friday sale, so I got them and have never had any issues with them. And they look great and get a lot of cool comments at the shows..
